Brand New Smile From Porcelain Veneers
A smile is one of the first features that other people notice. So, what does your smile say about you? While you want a healthy beautiful smile, not everyone is lucky enough to have one naturally. Maybe you are dealing with severe discolorations, or unsightly chips or cracks. While these minor imperfections can keep you from the smile you deserve. Dr. Wyman Martin, your cosmetic dentist, can now recommend a dental treatment that will have you leaving our office with a brand new smile.
About Porcelain Veneers
Also known as dental veneers, these thin shells made from porcelain are fitted to the front of your teeth to hide minor problem areas and imperfections. Veneers are ideal for those looking to hide serious stains and discolorations, chips and cracks, crooked or misshapen teeth, and minor overlapping or gaps between teeth. Veneers are also a great option for someone looking to enhance their smile without invasive or complicated dental treatments.
Getting Porcelain Veneers
Before applying your veneers Dr. Martin will need to make a little extra room for them so your smile isn’t bulky. This requires us to remove a small amount of natural tooth enamel. We do want our patients to be aware that once your natural tooth enamel is removed, this procedure is considered irreversible.
Once the tooth preparation is complete, we will match the shade of the veneers to your smile to choose a set that’s right for you. Dr. Martin will have you look over and approve the veneers prior to permanently applying them. Then we will place a specialized cement between the veneers and your natural teeth and shine a light beam over the veneers to harden the cement and adhere the veneers to create a new smile.
The Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
This is a minimally invasive way to improve the overall appearance of your smile. With only minimal tooth prep and no anesthesia you can get an improved set of teeth. Furthermore, since these veneers are made from porcelain, you won’t have to worry about them developing cavities. Veneers are also stain-resistant; however, you may want to keep your smile bright by avoiding certain stain-producing foods and beverages. Veneers also do not require special care, so your brushing and flossing routine won’t have to change. Just treat your veneers the same way you would your natural teeth and you’ll continue to maintain a more beautiful smile.
