What To Expect - The New Patient Experience
We take 90 minutes for new patient appointments. First we get to know you, your medical and dental history, as well as your wants and needs. We'll take the necessray radiographs (x-rays). We will then take a micro-assay (bacterial study) by removing plaque below your gumline and studying it under a phase contrast microscope to determine the risk for periodontal disease and other general health issues. The hygienist will take the preliminary records for the exam including an oral cancer exam, full periodontal charting, and recording all present dentistry/conditions she might see. She'll then educate you about different possible disease processes, assess the effectiveness of your oral health home care, and help you plan for future dental health. When the dentist arrives, the hygienist will review her findings and discuss recommendations for prophylaxis (cleaning) or periodontal treatments. After the dentist does their exam and reviews all the information with the hygienist, we'll schedule the appropriate appointments necessary to get your smile in perfect health!
Dr.'s K. Michael Murphy, Alexandra Welzel, Dawn Merguerian and your dental team are committed to providing the highest quality oral health care for you and your family.
